Significant Achievements: Played defensive tackle at Monte Vista High School and named Defensive Lineman of the Year in the Santa Clara Valley League in 2000. He was 2x first-team All-League selection (1999, 2000) and earned second-team All-Central Coast Section honors as a senior with 53 tackles, 10 sacks and 2 fumble recoveries. Kyle was captain of both his football team and wrestling team. During wrestling he compiled a 36-6 record. He placed 4th in Central Coast Section and eventually took 8th place at the State Championships.
Graduating in 2000, he attended Mesa Community College earning his associates degree in 2003 and later transferred to Arizona State University. At ASU, Kyle played Linebacker on the football team. He was part of the 2004 Sun Bowl Championship team defeating Purdue University. Kyle graduated ASU with a degree in Communications.

UFC Synopsis: In 2008, Kyle was cast by the UFC in Spike TV’s The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir. He fought Ryan Bader for a spot on the show and lost to Bader by Arm Triangle in the second round. After the discovery of two injured fighters, Kyle was brought in to replace one of them. He was picked by Antonio Nogueira’s team and recognized early by Nogueira as the “leader of the team”. In the first round of fights, Krzysztof Soszynski defeated Kingsbury.
In The Ultimate Fighter 8 Finale, Kyle made his UFC debut was matched up against Tom Lawlor and lost via unanimous decision. After the finale, the UFC signed Kyle to a multi-fight contract.
At UFC 104, Kyle earned his first victory in the UFC by defeating Razak Al-Hassan. The fight went to the judges and was scored in the favor of Kyle who took a split decision.
On September 15, 2010 at UFC Fight Night 22, Kyle defeated Jared Hamman via unanimous decision in a bout that earned Fight of the Night honors.
Kyle improved his UFC record to 3-1 after he won a TKO victory over Ricardo Romero in 0:21 seconds of the first round, on February 5, 2011 at UFC 126. He then faced Fabio Maldonado on June 4, 2011 at The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale. He won the fight via unanimous decision and again earning Fight of the Night honors for his performance.
On November 19, 2011 at UFC 139 Kyle fight in front of his hometown crowd in San Jose, CA against Stephan Bonnar.
Personal Life: Kyle is close with his parents and younger sister. He has an English Mastiff named “Lola” and is currently single.
